Laboratory and innovation
The Architectural Acoustics Laboratory at Tsinghua University, established in 1956, is China’s first ISO-standardized acoustics lab and remains the country’s most renowned. Spanning 500 square meters, it houses a sound insulation chamber, reverberation chamber, and anechoic chamber. The lab’s latest upgrade includes the addition of a 0 dB Ultra-quiet Laboratory and a Full Soundscape Ultra-VR Laboratory. Chinese AV solutions provider EZPro was tasked with supplying and installing the PA and immersive sound systems for these cutting-edge spaces. The Full Soundscape Virtual Reality Laboratory is equipped with the Astro Spatial Audio immersive sound engine.
Built to world-class standards, this VR lab features the most advanced soundscape system, capable of virtualizing omni-directional sound scenes. Combined with a 3D visual system, it creates an unparalleled immersive ultra-VR experience.
Technical specifications
The lab’s setup includes 12 ceiling-mounted ezacoustics IMC-8 point source loudspeakers, 34 wall-mounted IMC-8s, 4 EAW MK2399i speakers, and 4 additional IMC-8s behind the screen, along with an EAW SB528zP subwoofer on the ground.
The layout of these loudspeakers was meticulously modeled in the Astro Spatial Audio immersive sound engine, ensuring precise spatial localization of all sound effects, thereby maximizing the immersive experience.
