When technology and artistry fuse seamlessly, the result can transcend the boundaries of traditional performance. That vision came to life on November 29th at the Huangzhong Concert Hall during the Wuhan Conservatory of Music’s 8th “Melody of Yangtze River • World Famous Music Institution Exchange Performance Season.” Titled “Stars and Oceans” this Music AI Special Concert showcased both the innovative spirit of the Conservatory and the remarkable capabilities of immersive 3D audio powered by Astro Spatial Audio servers.
AI Meets Immersive Sound
The focus of “Stars and Oceans” was to explore how artificial intelligence can shape modern music composition. By leveraging object-based audio, the concert’s production team precisely positioned musical elements within the sound field, bringing compositions to life with astonishing depth and clarity. Each audio track was created under strict standards in a dedicated monitoring environment, ensuring that every subtle detail translated into an engrossing live performance.
Immersive Sound Reinforcement
Key to the concert’s success was the work of EZPro, who handled the audio system design and offered on-site technical support. Their use of Astro Spatial Audio technology allowed the venue’s loudspeaker layout to be modeled in detail, ensuring that audio objects—whether AI-generated melodies, orchestral sections, or electronic layers—could be placed and moved freely throughout the space. This flexibility brought an authentic 3D presence to each composition, aligning perfectly with the composers’ creative vision.
To deliver the sonic experience, the concert utilized:
Main PA System: EAW KF210 line array loudspeakers and SBX118 subwoofers on each side of the stage.
Center Channel: Theater-installed EAW QX596 point source loudspeakers for focused vocal and instrumental clarity.
Surround Sound: ezacoustics IMC-8 coaxial point source loudspeakers, ensuring every corner of the hall was enveloped in rich, detailed audio.
Fill System: EAW MKC60 coaxial point source loudspeakers for balanced coverage of the seating area.
